Privacy policy for macOS

Last updated: 13 October 2026

FastShot for macOS is a screenshot and annotation utility. This policy describes the macOS app.

Local processing

Screenshots, annotations, OCR results, settings, and capture history are processed and stored on your Mac. FastShot does not upload screenshots or recognized text to a server. OCR uses Apple's Vision framework locally. No FastShot account is required, and the app includes no advertising, analytics, or tracking.

Screen Recording permission

macOS asks you to allow Screen Recording so FastShot can capture the screen, a window, or a selected area. During scrolling capture, FastShot samples the selected area while you scroll and stitches the images locally. The capture session ends when you finish or cancel. You can revoke Screen Recording permission in System Settings → Privacy & Security.

Files and clipboard

Screenshots are saved to a local folder. When you choose another save folder using the system folder chooser, FastShot stores a security-scoped bookmark to retain access to that folder. Copying an image or OCR text places it on the macOS clipboard, where other applications and any system clipboard-sync features you enable may access it. FastShot does not operate a clipboard-sync service.

Settings and history

Preferences, folder bookmarks, and capture history are stored locally. You can clear history in the app and delete exported images using Finder. Files exported outside the app's sandbox may remain after uninstalling the app. Removing a history entry and deleting an exported file are separate actions.

Network and third-party services

The macOS app does not send screenshots or OCR results to FastShot or third-party servers. Opening a support or other external link may launch your browser; the destination website's privacy policy then applies. This policy does not describe data independently handled by Apple for App Store purchases, downloads, or operating-system services.

Children and changes

FastShot does not collect personal information from users, including children. If the app's data practices change, this policy will be updated before those changes are introduced.
